Selbey Anderson: Partner of Cranfield School of Management

Selbey Anderson has partnered with Cranfield School of Management to provide working opportunities to Cranfield students, and support agency managing directors with business planning and strategy for 2022.

The project, which ran throughout November, saw four Cranfield students contribute to the agencies business plans, providing market research, client and competitor analysis, as well as identifying and recommending opportunities for growth.

The students, who are studying for their master’s degrees across several disciplines including strategic marketing, finance, and management, were Balint Hodos, Ivano Maino, Tobi Fanimokun and Jing Xie.

I have a particular thank you for Helen Underhill who helped make this happen. The feedback and work has been excellent and we’ll look to run this annually.”

Our student, Ivano, gave both my leadership team and I food for thought; he challenged our thinking with a fresh perspective about how the external world sees the clients and environment that we work within; it was highly thought-provoking. We will use the output to inform our planning into 2022 and beyond.”

Alexis Drake, Data, Marketing and Communications Manager, Cranfield School of Management, says: “The students gained experience of a self-managed, consultancy style project, culminating in a presentation to key stakeholders at the business. This was an excellent learning curve for the students as Selbey Anderson conducted a formal application, selection and recruitment process; requiring them to create a winning CV and bespoke cover letter.”

Tobi Fanimokun, Cranfield School of Management student, says: “Having the opportunity to apply the skills I have developed from university into a practical setting was very rewarding and I particularly appreciated the level of independence I was given to conduct the research.

The project exposed me to the importance of PR and communications in finance. I learnt in great detail the role communications has in the transition towards a more sustainable future through educating investors, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Additionally, I learnt more about financial market infrastructures and the UK fintech space – the major trends and challenges they are currently facing and how PR firms can position themselves to add value for them.”

The students final reports and presentations were completed at the end of November.
